چکیده

Background and objective: EPELI (Executive Performance of Everyday LIving) is a Virtual Reality (VR) task that was developed to study goal-directed behavior in everyday life contexts children. In this study, we had 72 typically developing 9- 13-year-old children play with an immersive version implemented head-mounted display (HMD) non-immersive employing flat screen (FSD) counterbalanced order see if the two versions yield similar results. The children’s executive functions were assessed parent-rated Behavior Rating Inventory for Executive Functions (BRIEF) questionnaire. To assess applicability online testing, half gameplays conducted remotely rest laboratory. Results: All performance measures correlated across versions. mostly versions, but small effects reflecting higher FSD-EPELI found Total score, Task efficacy, Time-based prospective memory score. engaged more active time monitoring FSD-EPELI. While evaluated feeling presence usability both favorably, most preferred HMD-EPELI, its environment be involving realistic. Both showed only negligible problems interface quality. No differences or subjective evaluations between home-based laboratory-based assessments efficacy BRIEF on first assessment, not second. This raises questions about stability associations reported function tasks questionnaires. Conclusions: HMD FSD are viable tools naturalistic assessment provides user experience movement tracking, can maximize scalability, reachability, cost as it used common hardware remotely. Taken together, findings highlight similarities cognitively complex VR task, also underline specific advantages these presentation modes.

3D spatial interaction with the Wii remote for head-mounted display virtual reality

This research investigates the design of a low-cost 3D spatial interaction approach using the Wii Remote for immersive Head-Mounted Display (HMD) virtual reality. Current virtual reality applications that incorporate the Wii Remote are either desktop virtual reality applications or systems that use large screen displays. However, the requirements for an HMD virtual reality system differ from su...

The development of a symptom questionnaire for assessing virtual reality viewing using a head-mounted display.

PURPOSE Virtual reality devices, including virtual reality head-mounted displays, are becoming increasingly accessible to the general public as technological advances lead to reduced costs. However, there are numerous reports that adverse effects such as ocular discomfort and headache are associated with these devices. To investigate these adverse effects, questionnaires that have been specific...

Using virtual reality driving simulators in persons with spinal cord injury: three screen display versus head mounted display.

PURPOSE Virtual reality (VR) is a relatively new technology that is currently utilized in a wide variety of settings to test and train individuals in specialized skills. This study examines methods for improving driver retraining protocols for persons with spinal cord injury (SCI). METHOD We compared a VR driving simulator, under two different display conditions, a head mounted display (HMD) ...

Latency Compensation for Head-Mounted Virtual Reality

Latency greatly degrades the usability of head-mounted virtual reality systems. This paper discusses consequences of latency, examines sources of latency, investigates techniques to reduce latency, and proposes to integrate existing solutions into a system that approximates zero latency for the most critical types of errors. First, effects of latency are examined such as degraded user experienc...

Music Education using Augmented Reality with a Head Mounted Display

Traditional music education places a large emphasis on individual practice. Studies have shown that individual practice is frequently not very productive due to limited feedback and students lacking interest and motivation. In this paper we explore the use of augmented reality to create an immersive experience to improve the efficiency of learning of beginner piano students. The objective is to...
